Kappa Kappa Psi
The Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi (KKΨ) began in 1919 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at what is now Oklahoma State University. Ten college band students and their director, Bohumil Makovsky, founded the Fraternity with the purposes of promoting the college band program, honoring outstanding band members, stimulating campus leadership, fostering a close relationship between college band members, and providing a positive social experience for those engaged in college bandwork. While we have a sister sorority, Tau Beta Sigma (TBΣ), both KKΨ and TBΣ have been multi-gender organizations since the enactment of Title IX in the 1970s.

KKΨ recognizes 6 districts in the United States. We boast many notable members or honorary members such as former President Bill Clinton, Chuck Norris, John Williams, John Philip Sousa, and Neil Armstrong. Our motto is "Strive for the Highest."
KKΨ is involved in several national initiatives aimed toward promoting musical excellence, including the National Intercollegiate Band, commissioning programs, and conferences and conventions for members meant to advance the ideals of the fraternity.
